Anyone with pics of perches?

It's just privet that was there when I started this whole project 7 years ago.

It used to be big, but we had to cut it down somewhat to get the first coop in (small coop that was inside the run prior to my getting the big coop outside the run). The chickens do snack on it so it's never grown back up much. But it's there for interest.

Does anyone have anything like a cat-tower in their run? Maybe without the carpeting?

You could make something similar, but I think you'd have to MAKE it b/c any cat tree is not meant to be outdoors, you know? Mostly cardboard and pressboard, which would disintegrate after a few rains!

Also, you don't want wide shelves b/c they'd collect poop.

Ooh, I didn't think about poopy shelves...

My dad is the one that will be making the perches for me and he actually brought up the improvised cat tree. I liked the idea if we could get it to work.

Well, it would basically be like my central post--a post w/ perches all over it at different levels. Easy enough to do! I would secure it, though (not just on a base like a cat tree, but to something more solid. Mine holds up the wire roof on the kennel run--there is a 2x4 attached to the top, whose ends are then bolted to the run on either side.

LOVE that, fireguy! I've got some great ideas from your pix! I've been planning a hanging perch for a while--will probably put one in my new run.

What beautiful pictures and runs!! Wish I could have something bigger with more higher perches sadly I have stuck to a bit of tree trunk with broken branches coming off it and stands less than a metre from the floor due to problems with bumblefoot in my heavier birds (roo is currently 4kg) but they like it, plus it looks rather attractive in their run! So that's another idea, sorry no pic :-(

Hi, Here are some pics of our "chicken Jungle jim". Lots for them to jump on and hang out.

I love that swing!

I'll have to talk to my dad about what he has on hand. It sounds like we could definitely make something that would work.

I actually have a couple of sturdy branches in their run right now. They are just laying on the ground, though. Some of the side branches are kind of propping them up, but not very high.
