I'm juuuuust bout done with my new 10x10 walk in coop. Right now, I have t1-11 siding, which has a weird OSB texture on the back) that I've lime washed, but I'm starting to wonder if some heavy duty peel and stick wallpaper might make it easier to clean.

I'm not too worried about it staying pretty, but I'm wondering if it'd be easier to clean.

I'd appreciate input.

Thanks!

Personally, I wouldn’t recommend using anything that can trap moisture or peel over time—it can create small gaps where mites, lice, cockroaches or even mold might thrive, especially if the material has texture. Wallpaper also doesn't adhere well to OSB. I’d suggest simply sealing it with a good quality outdoor paint to create a protective surface if desired.

Makes sense. My current coops don't have it, and even with the Henry's roof patch I used, scrubbing duck poop off the walls has been... fun. Lol. I was hoping to avoid that in the future if possible.

I agree with @CabritaChicks.
I would suggest using a good quality outdoor paint with a semi-gloss finish. It may take 2 coats but is worth it in sealing the walls.
Mine has been holding up well even after 10+ years.
See, now, mine hasn't. That's what I've been trying to combat. I've got 3 coats of waterproofing membrane on my big coop, and the poop is just not coming off the walls. And I've been good about scraping if off when I see it. Oh well. It was definitely worth the ask. I got good feedback. Thanks!

Chicken poop? Pretty easy to deal with—except for the cecal droppings, which are a bit messier. My parrot’s poop, on the other hand, dries to the point that we have to rehydrate it before scraping it off with a paint scraper.

To make cleanup easier, we use lead-free PVC board (you can purchase this at any home depot) at the base of their stands. It is super slippery, so I wet it, forget it and wipe clean or just use a hose.

The image here shows one of the setups—we’ve laid down paper because they just had fresh fruit, and this makes cleaning a bit simpler. But for the outdoor stands, the PVC board alone is great: it scrubs clean easily and can even be painted if needed.

In fact I used PVC board on the base of my coop roosting/nest boxes, then put linoleum and bathroom grout in the seams. You can see it in my coop build if you click next to my profile image.
