I thought I was pretty good at sexing chickens, but these Appenzellers have really sent me for a loop. I have 6 of them, but there are only 4 pictured here. Can any of you help me sex them? They are 7 weeks old. I hope the picture is good enough, despite LOTS of handling, these guys are extremely skittish. I think they're more skittish than my leghorns and that's saying something!

I think these are all boys, but hoping I'm wrong.

 
I say the ones with the bigger lighter poofs on the heads are males and the smaller darker poofs females. So I think left from right

Sexing duplex comb birds (such as Spitzhaubens) at this age is difficult because the comb development is delayed and the comb never develops into as large of size as many other breeds. They all look like they are leaning to the male side but there still could be hope. Give them a couple weeks and you will be sure.
