Eastern NYS Regional Poultry School Show
Sunday, April 18th, 2010, 9AM to ~4PM

Sponsored by: Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County, Schenectady County Farm Bureau, Cornell Farm and Erika Marczak
This event is open to all youth, 4-H members or non-members, and their parents/chaperone. All participants are encouraged to bring a bird in good health and free of parasites to participate in the fun show. Birds must be brought in carriers that they will be comfortable in all day, as cages and water cups will not be provided. If you cannot bring your own bird or borrow one, we can provide one for you.
8AM Registration starts and birds can be brought to the fun show area
9AM to Noon Educational sessions to include incubation, embryology, raising poultry for eggs and meat, how to select the right breed for you, how to prepare a bird for show, what can be expected at a show, fitting and showmanship. Presenters will include David Hillman, Judge Jamie Matts, The Bulson Family, Erika Marczak, Elizabeth Holmes, a 4-H public presenter TBA, and a Q&A session.
Noon to 1PM Lunch and youths prepare birds for the fun show. Lunch will be bring your own, we will also have pizza and soda available for a reasonable price.
1PM Fun Show, Youths will get a chance to exhibit their bird with the assistance of an APA/ABA licensed judge.
Following the Fun Show we will wrap the day up and present the winners of the Poultry Essay Contest (be sure to get your essays in a head of time) and award the pairs/trios of show birds or production birds that have been donated as prizes. This years essay topic is What I have learned/would like to learn from raising poultry. Please email essays to Erika by 4/16/10 or bring a copy to the event.
