I was glad to read this morning that AQHA has finally added Dressage, starting at training level 4, I believe, to their roster of classes. These will be judged by Federation-approved judges who are also AQHA members, so the level of judging should meet Federation standards! I think this is a tremendous step forward for AQHA!

Sorry, but my reaction is "Oh good lord, aren't USDF dressage shows bad enough, I can scarcely imagine what the AQHA will do with the concept"

Having USDF judges does not change the fact that they have to pin *someone* first, and when odd fetishes and massive incorrectnesses develop (well, are already present, and this is very true of USDF shows too) even the best-meaning judge cannot actually change the situation, other than to give lower marks to everyone.

Sigh,

Pat, with a more traditional view of dressage i.e. "correctness" not "flashiness and a frame, with the ability to go sideways in some fashion when asked"
