I have three hens, all born in March 2013. They are all different breeds. My Aracauna was the last to start laying, and her first two eggs were rubber eggs. But she was a great layer after she started laying regular eggs. About two months ago she stopped laying. It seemed to coincide with the weather getting hot, but she's only laid two eggs in two months. The first was all bumpy and odd-textured. The second was kind of oblong. And no others since. I've inspected her closely and watched her behavior. She has no bugs, no change in diet, she eats and poops, she seems active.
The only--maybe--odd thing is that she goes to roost for the night before the other two. We let them free range in the hour before it gets dark and the other two use the whole hour to forage. The one who has stopped laying usually does a little foraging and then hits the hay!
Any ideas?
