I have a flock of about 8 birds. Recently lost out Brahma 8 years old rooster and then the girl
I'm now looking to replace
I'd like blue/ green layers. I'm torn between the two breeds. For context I live in Spain. Summer temperature 40 lowest winter temperatures -4.
Free ranging over an acre
Any advice positive or otherwise gratefully received

I do not know much about Aracuana, more common here is Ameraucana, though they have similar traits and background. In my experience the Legbars are excellent free rangers and very heat and cold tolerant. Hope this helps and I hope others respond as well. 😊

I have both Araucana and Cream Legbar and love both breed of hens. Both are good foragers. The Cream Legbars are a little more independent. They will be friendly on their terms but when they are friendly they are amazing and wonderful. The Araucana hens are not so aloof. They will be lap sitting and running to you for treats.
Cream Legbar are easier to find than Araucana and less expensive to start out with. They are also prolific egg layers. Both breeds, in my experience go broody if purchased from breeder stock. I don’t recommend roosters of either breed though my Araucana roosters are easier to work with.
