ARAUCANA BEHAVIOR

What are the characteristics or true Araucanas in terms of behavior and temperament? Are they calm or Flighty, relatively quiet or talkative, and are they robust and healthy or fragile? One last question is how do they do they mix with other types of hens,specificly do they get along with other types of hens and do the Roos readily service the other hens? I love the look and beautiful eggs but want as much info as possible before considering a small group of this interesting breed of chicken.

i have ameraucanas, not true auracanas... they are a little smaller than average, sweeter/gentler than average and they lay a little less than the BRs. like about 4 a week. but maybe auracanas are a little different? i love my ameraucanas!

The 2 I have are some what nice, but they are only 10 weeks old!

I've had Aurucanas and in my experience they're sweet and also the first ones to run to me when I call them

My 3 araucaunas are sweet as can be. They come up to the fence to greet me. When I have to move them from one place to another, they calm and easy to handle. I have not had them very long, so it seems as if this must just be their nature.

My Araucana Roo Alabaster is sweet as pie even with my ds stopming and marching around squealing at the hens. My chicks are calm and sweet as well. You can see Alabaster on my Page

Ahhh I didn't see the "true" in front of auaucana and assumed you were talking about Easter eggers and were misinformed
