or is it just mine? My rooster is annoyingly vocal about EVERYTHING

, especially when one of his hens goes to the nest box. It's like...why must he alert everyone within 2 miles that his lady is going to lay an egg?

Geesh! There's plenty of other hens that lay eggs, too. Also, his crow is brutally loud. I'm just wondering if this is fairly common to the Ameraucana breed...over do I just have an overzealous rooster?

Ours aren't especially. There is one who crows at 4 am though. When I find him he's going to freezer camp.

Our loudest is a little B/R MGB roo his name is 'Thunder', that bird can blow out your ears.

ETA--I will say that the free-range flock roo Ameraucana Maverick does keep up a constant chatter to his girls. He's not too loud when he does it though.

Nonbody's moving at our place at 4 am. I don't get up until 5:30. Even the wild birds wait until about 5 before they start making noise.

It's a horrible warbling crow on top of that. At first I thought someone was hurt badly and yelling for help, so I hauled myself up out of bed woke up the dogs (they are getting old) and checked it out. He started the night of the meteorite and hasn't stopped since.

Mine have always been quiet. They are pretty mild mannered. I have a new roo from a diff breeder-and he just wouldnt stop crowing!!! I wasnt sure how this was all going to work out,
but did just move some birds around and he seems more settled with more to look after. I hope.

Mine aren't especially loud, but I have one who is EARLY. I swear, the other roosters are squinting and glaring at him. He starts at least an hour before any of them even join in...

It's not so much the crowing that bothers me...even though my rooster is very loud with that, too. But the crowing is a given when you have a rooster. It's all the UNNECESSARY noise he makes. I can't tell you how many times we've been outside and he's started squawking obnoxiously about something...my DH annoyingly looks at me and says "can't you make him shut up!". I really love my roo...he's gorgeous. But his incessant loud behavior is causing a "ripple in the pond" so to speak. If it escalates into a wave, I'm not sure what I'll do.
