Are all chickens really rough when getting treats?

Gone are the days of hand-feeding treats to my flock

Some of them are just getting too rough and I'm scared they're going to take a chunk out of my finger. I know it's a stupid question, but is that normal or should I be doing something so they aren't so rough? They aren't being mean at all just a bit too eager

Yep, my BO is very ferocious, but much less so when she's not competing with the other hen for the feed. She's very gentle when she's feeding from my hand alone. I've even seen her almost choke to death on one occasion, rather than let her companion get any of the treats I was offering!

Try and distract some of the hens with feed on the floor, and offer some treats in your hand. Or pick the girls up and feed them one at a time on your lap, away from the others.

I felt the same way...little piggys. I feel like some of them are trying to take chunks out of my hand. They cant take a finger off so i wouldnt worry about that. They think your fingers are big worms. Mine go crazy over rasins and they love oatmeal dry or gooie. I feed the dry oats out of my hand but the rasins i sprinkle around for them so i dont get injured. lol
