I just got some quail from a VERY generous person on this site! (Thanks again!!!)

But, I pictured quail that fly all OVER the place....these things run to me in the coop! They don't fly everywhere, don't freak out...

Are all quail like that?

These are coturnix...are all sweet?

If you cook one, I will eat it and tell you if it is sweet. LOL Seriously, I may be interested in some hatching eggs next year. Lowdollar434

The first batch I hatched were bobwhites, and they are wild as they can be. When they were chicks they flipped out every time I got into the brooder. Now thatthey are 7 week sold, they are worse. The coturnix that hatched last night are docile in comparison, so it may be a breed specific thing.

coturnix are "mini chickens" as long as they are socilized they are pretty much sweeties esp the jumbos

Not all coturnix are sweet, it depends a lot on the breeding, and the variety. For some reason, browns seem to be very personable. My A&Ms are pretty easy going as well, along with my goldens. Now my red-goldens and cinnamons?? They are the biggest freaks of them all! They are worse than the young chukars I have. I'm afraid one of them (quail) is going to seriously injure itself when I go near their cage!

I'm glad I don't have mine in a coop, I'd probably have quite a few squished ones! I'll stick to dodging my bantam cochin youngsters
