I know that Seminole County has a backyard permit for up to 4 backyard chickens for single family residences in unincorporated parts of the county.

Does anyone know what are the local ordinances for backyard chickens within Oviedo, FL?

My house is not in an HOA and is zoned as "Single Family-11700"

Thanks!

Lets start with the bad news. Oveido has a noise ordinance - 60dB in the residential districts, 55 dB overnight hours. and before getting to the numerical standards, they first mentioned a lot of things that they deem to be a problem, without a specific decibel level.

Section 22-121 "Environment - Unlawful Acts" contains this gem:
(4) The keeping of any animal, bird or fowl which by causing frequent or long-continued noise shall disturb the comfort or repose of any person in the vicinity.

That, in itself, is enough to say that for practical purposes, that's pretty much no chickens.

Residential Zoning is Section 4.3 which sends you to the Permisible Use Table
Agricultural Uses (not including Animals)! are permitted only in zones A and R-CE (Residential - Country Estate)

Agricultural Uses including Livestock are by special exception only, in the same Zoning. They are forbidden elsewhere.

Conclusion: No Chickens.
