Are carabiners raccoon proof?

I intend to use carabiners as a "lock" on my coop latches (bolts and hasps). I would rather not fool with keys. Has anyone ever had a raccoon breach a carabiner-protected coop? I'm currently building my first coop. Thanks!

Probably pretty saFe. they have to be opened then maneuvered to get them off....

Look for the c clip looking connectors made for parrot toys, they have a screw on latch to prevent parrots from unhook in them.

I think a raccoon could open a carabiner. They are pretty crafty little problem solvers and your chickens are a valuable reward for them to figure it out.

Ok I did a little research and I was wrong. But the Links with the screw thread are also suspect.... Raccoons are persistant.

Either a padlock with a combo or electric fence...

For what its worth.... I have had more issues of Raccoons prying the roof off or reaching in and decapitating... And my coop is inside a dog kennel. No lock no clip.... just the dog kennel latch. The dog kennel is now covered in hardware cloth and has the roof kennel clamped on.

There are two types of the quick links. One has a spring that pushes the screw part up, it is pretty difficult for humans to maneuver it off, but like you said...they are crafty.
I think that keyless clip may or may not work.

Use simple snap hooks. Break off the "thumb tab". You can break them off easily with a hammer and chisel or screwdriver. A raccoon will not be able to open it (don't care what anyone says they will not) but you still can easily open without dealing with screws or safety latches etc.
