Hello all. First post and lots to see here! I have been reading, gathering info and ready to go with my hopeful flock of 5.
Searched web and can't find any info. Does anyone here keep or know laws here in Bridgewater, NJ? Thanks...Phil

So, I found out today from our local zoning official the rules for chicken coops.
It is as follows:
100 feet in from the back property line and also the sides. Cannot be in front yard.
Would need zoning permit and building permit possibly depending on the coop size.
I am on 1 acre. While it is big and wooded, from the back I'm golden, but I would only have 70 feet from each side inwards assuming I built a 10 foot wide run.

AFter being so excited, picking out and researching my 5 hens, I cannot proceed.
I have had many hobbies but never quit a forum after one post.
You have a great site here. Good luck to all...Phil.

As long as your neighbors aren't crazy, you should be fine. There are many people in town that have chickens, myself included. I actually have a rooster as well, no complaints from.the neighbors. Some of them actually enjoy it. As long as you're close to guidelines the town will leave you alone.
