Are game birds okay for a mixed flock?

I was thinking about purchasing some aseel chickens or Malays (because gamefowl can be good flock defenders) but I am concerned that they can be aggressive towards my other birds. Is this just a stigma, or is it true that gamefowl are inherently mean? I know they were originally bred for cockfighting.

They’re inherently more natural than many modern chickens. Part of that naturalness is having an inclination towards stronger pecking orders and mature males fighting one another to the death to ensure the strongest rooster fathers the most chicks.

If you’re free ranging, pecking order fights rarely results in death. The game chickens usually assert dominance over the non-games and the non-games submit, then among the games they too will submit to one another. The exception are mature roosters. All others will learn their places.

Coops are a bit different. I’ve had game hens kill one another in coops out of being unable to flee from one another.

That’s all good to know. My flock free ranges, but sometimes spends stretches of time with indoors when I travel. Not sure if that would be an issue for the game bird.

What breeds do you have currently and more importantly, what are their temperments like?
We Have got a California white, two barred rocks, a brown leghorn, a black sexlink, a Wyandotte, a golden comet, and two aruacanas. They’re all hens. Most of them are pretty chill except for the California white and one of the aruacanas (who acts like a rooster). We also have a Muscovy duck who lives in the coop with them.
