Hey there! I have just hatched out my first (and if my dh has anything to say about it last) batch of gold laced cochins... i've noticed that some have almost a chipmunk striping type mark and some most certainly do not. but that those are the two main distinguishing factor. i was just wondering if this was a sex link trait or not... i can't do the 'run' test as they neither run toward nor away from me but just kind of stand there...

that may change after the next couple of days but for now i'm just wondering if there was another way to tell (i'm abysmal at sexing).

Thanks!

I cannot answer your question but can tell you - I just started getting into the laced thing - mine are silver laced bantams. They did come in different chick down coloration and are now starting to lace up - at about 4 weeks of age.

I also do not know what the "run" test is. Mine chicks have always run towards me as they think I am mom.

I don't know either, But I will give this a BUMP for you.

PS there are no 'behavioral' test that are accurate for sexing, because the sexes act exactly the same untill they get older and get more hormones.
