Ok, first broody & first post. Eleven eggs a sitting; now there are two. We watch the countdown & took measures to protect from ? She is well protected from racoons & other larger beasts. She is sharing the stall with an old goat & the rooster comes a visiting everyday. At first there was zero evidence. The last two to vanish left some clues (like pieces of shell). We are most likely at day 19. My wife has volunteered to take it from here. that's a visual, eh?
Thank you for any thoughts.

sorry to hear that, maybe it could be the goat. when she gets off to eat the goat may have gone over and gobbled them up, they eat anything.

Welcome to BYC!!!

It could be the goat, like DH said, or a snake. But since you've found pieces of shell it's probably the goat, unless there's a way for a skunk to get in. You might try putting an egg in the goats feed bucket and see if he eats it then you'll know for sure.

what if its not the goat and he eats it and gets a taste for eggs?

My goats go in for the chicken feed

Goats have a taste for anything. It doesn't have to be introduced to them. If they see it they will eat it.
