are Iowa Blues Accepted by the APA?

According to my Storeys' Illustrated Guide to Poultry Breeds no they have never been recognized by the APA.

Nope. But there are people working on it, they say it should get accepted in a few years/or/so from what I've heard.

I purchased some chicks and a few sexed roosters. @ roosters seem colored OK but all the hens show what I think is called mossiness to one degree or another. Even the darkest pullets still have a feather or two with pepper brown on half the feather. Most have poor silver marking as they have a tan color.
Anyone know what causes this or if it can be breed out. Since they all show it to some degree, I am not sure it can be bred out with out raising a larger number and maybe finding a couple with out it.
Maybe I just purchased from a breeder with poor stock.

Otherwise I realy like their personality's and they are good layers and setters. I would like to try to find some better hens.

I herd they have not been acceptedas yet. If there is a group trying to form to get them accepted I'd like to find it. Contact me if you know how to breed the mossiness out or know where to get some better stock:/
