Are koekoek good meat chickens

Apologies for restarting an old thread, but it seems nobody was able to reply. One of my Koekoek Roos was attacked by an eagle and killed. I wasn't at home yet, and apparently my builders slaughtered, and in the pot in minutes. My husband weighed Chicken Little before preparation , and he was apparently around 3kg, at 8 months. I'm vegetarian, but my husband says my Little was the most flavorful chicken he'd ever tasted, with just a little bit of fat, but not so much that the poor little beast dropped dead of a heart attack.

As for the hens, my 4 Koekoek hens have laid an egg every single day without fail, for the past 3 months. Apparently it tapers off in winter, but it should be fine. I'm in the Eastern Cape, and our winter here means 35C days and -2C at night, with virtually no rain falling for the next 7 months. And my Korkoes are perfectly suited.

Good luck!

Not many of us have this breed. It sure looking like barred rock chicken. If it large meaty and lay a lot of egg, it is consider dual purpose.
