Are more people raising meaties?

I am in N. CA about 35 miles from San Francisco. I have raised layers for about 9 years and a meat bird here and there, along with processing roosters and old stewing hens. This is the first year i have gone full tilt to raise meat birds. I have 25 rangers and 25 cornish x. I am fermenting the feed ( as discussed in another thread) and they took to it very well. These guys are growing really fast. I purchased a EZPlucker 151 along with creating a station to hold my killing cones. I processed some roosters to test my setup and i am loving it. Any way that is another story. I had to wait for a month to get meat birds I ordered the rangers directly and I checked in several feed stores to order the cornish x's and found one that could deliver the same date as the rangers. all the other places were booked until late May. Good luck everyone

Yes, there are many more growing meat birds. Just a couple of years ago we would get some trolling on this thread from those who feel it is wrong to kill your own chickens for food but now I never see that. More folks on the bandwagon that is more meat, healthier meat, less money.
