I have a rooster that started to make a weird sound like it is sneezing or has a runny nose now one of my hens is starting to do it, does this mean they are sick do I need to separate them?

Does he have a runny nose? Chances are, even if you separate them, the whole flock has been exposed. It could just be dust or the like. If you notice any other symptoms then separate and start looking into common respiratory diseases. Hope someone more experienced can help too

Can you provide more information:
Is he sneezing - how often?
Does he have mucous (runny nose0?
Any facial swelling, watery eyes, coughing, etc. that would indicate a respiratory illness?

Sneezing only can be a lot of things - chickens can occasionally sneeze from dusty bedding/feed or if they have water/food in their nostrils. Excess poop in the coop and poor ventilation can also cause sneezing, as can respiratory illnesses.

If he is lethargic, not eating/drinking and having difficulties it is best to separate him so you can give him extra care. If it's an occasional sneeze and he is acting normal, then just a keep a watch on him.
