Are my cream legbars hens or roosters?

Hi, I hatched 3 cream legbars and 2 opal legbars from mail order eggs. I am confused because all 3 cream legbars were born a lighter golden color and I thought they were Roos. But they are 6 weeks old now and they have gotten more brown in their coloring and their combs are short and pale, compared to the opal legbar too that was born just 4 days before them. His comb has been bright red and tall for weeks now. There are 3 . Please help with determining there gender. The last pic is of the opal legbar too, just for comparison. Thanks

Someone told me if you pick one up behind the shoulders/wings (if you can with one hand it's best) and pick them straight up with their feet hanging down and look to see which ones kick and sorta fight when u do that and which was put there legs straight or relaxed you can tell.
Males will fight or kick and females will submit or relax because of the natural mounting instinct. Hope this helps.

Bit of an old wives' tale. Their reaction to being held is more dependent on individual personalities than gender. I have male birds who would allow you to calmly pick them up in the manner described and female birds that would immediately claw their way to freedom.

Good to know. It was a woman who worked at Tractor supply that told me. She said she tested it on tons of chicks, and it was 90% accurate so i trusted her, but like you said it might be a bit harder to put a solid yes on.
Thanks for setting it straight.

If they are six weeks old, all are cockerels.
Thanks. It all lined up to be Roos, but it’s confusing how short their combs seem to be at this point. And the tail, especially on the slightly darker one is so squared off like a female. They also kind of act like females in my opinion too so it is confusing.

I have 10 cockerels and some are chill when handled (in any manner) and some go berserk, this is grade A BS.

I agree with Pigeony, I think they each have their own personality. But …with this group, all 3 cream legbars are super chill and just dangle when you pick them up. That’s one reason I felt like they could be females. The opal legbar roo will freak out and fight to get free every time.
