Morning ya'll.

I ordered Silkie eggs through the mail, and they went into the incubator on November 10. Half were viable, at least I think when this newbie candled them. Five out of 12 look full now. They don't show signs of pipping. 21 days would have been December 1.

Temperature has been a steady 99.5, good humidity except for about 4 hours when my neighbor turned them for us and left a crack in the incubator and they dropped to about 98 degrees.

Do you all think they are dead? Should we toss them? Wait?

As long as there is no odor, I would wait. Did you calibrate the thermometer to make sure it was reading properly ? Welcome to BYC, and hope that you get some chicks .

Making me math this early. 30 days in Nov,? you dont count day one (the 10th) day one would of been the 11th.
The cool down on the bator can delay hatch a day . Temps not being dead on can also delay hatch. I think you are still good. Some take longer then others to hatch. Good luck to you and welcome to BYC

Thanks you all for giving me hope. I know in the world of issues, this one is miniscule, but those eggs are important to me and my children! No on the calibration, I guess, but I do have two gauges in there. Ok, we will wait and thanks. Glad to be a part of this group - did manage to hatch two duck eggs, and they hatched 8 days apart!!!!!

I felt a little weird ordering them on the internet, but there were no locals around Memphis, Tennessee.....

Does this look like pipping to you all are am I just imagining a new spot because I want them to hatch so badly??? :):):)
