Pine is fine. Some will tell you that it is as bad as cedar, but many, many thousands of people use pine shavings as bedding all the time.

My own experience only goes back 33 years, but haven't seen a hint of a problem yet.

I have 2 coops and both are filled with pine shavings and I put hay in the nesting boxes .....
