if i hatch them under a hen can they go outside after they hatch or do they have to wait 2 weeks before they can?
do they listen to a chicken hen like a guinea does?
will they follow the hen around like chicks and keets or will they wonder off?
just wondering as i have no idea.
thanks. cole.

I'm not sure whether a chicken would raise quail, there's probably a high chance of them getting killed, but if they weren't penned up you'd never see them again. Quail don't stick around like chickens and guineas. They take off and they do so quite young. You can have a chicken hatch quail but then you need to move the chicks and keep the quail penned up forever if you actually want them around.

well i went to a flea market and got 12 bob's and let them go. i have a permit dont worry!
they slept in the woods at night and when they heard me open the door for the chickens they came up out of the woods and stayed with the chickens all day. then the next night they would go sleep in the woods and the next morning here they would come up out of the woods. but we had an awful rain storm i think and they got flooded out!

If you use a broody hen to hatch them out it would be very unlikely that a hen would raise them. I would take them away and put them in a brooder as soon as they hatch. As small as they are they would be an easy target for most predators. but a silkie might be small enough to hatch out a clutch of quail.

Many states you can't even obtain a permit for release in that way. Also the end of that post is still a bunch of dead or missing quail. Unless they are raised properly for release they won't live long and unless you have the right type of vegetation and land for it they are less likely to stick around and even less likely to survive more than a week.
