Are Raw Eggs OK?

Every once in awhile an egg is slightly cracked in the nest boxes, so I give it raw to the Girls. I know about the egg eating thing, but other than that is it ok to feed them raw eggs?

It would probably be better if you cooked it first so they don't help themselves to eggs, cracked or otherwise. It only takes a couple of minutes in the microwave to cook them. Once they learn to eat eggs, it's a hard, nearly impossible, habit to break.

I came back because I'm wondering why they're gettin cracked? Is there enough nesting material? Are there enough boxes for the amount of birds; one box for every four birds is recommended? Is the bottom of the box too hard? Some people put cardboard down to cushion things. You might explore this area.

I've had a raw egg as part of a Japanese dish in Japan (could have been a duck egg, however). I'm still alive 5 years later. I suspect their stomaches can handle it too.

Eating raw eggs, won't hurn them, but very bad think to teach your hens........ cook them first..

I would think that is just asking for a bunch of egg eating hens. There's no way I'd offer them raw eggs.

Nooooo...i would not give them raw egg! Do you want egg eaters??

BUT..i have mixed a raw in some oatmeal for them...but it was all mixed in..they couldnt tell what it was...
thats is the only way i'd ever ever feed them a raw egg...mixed VERY well in something..

I always disguise eggs before feeding them to my hens. Does feeding them raw eggs turn them into egg eaters? Who knows! What I do know is that egg eating is a seriously difficult habit to break and alot of times the only solution is to cull the offenders. Why take the chance?

I smash questionable eggs against the brick outside rather than haul them to the house and let the chickens or cats clean it up. I have yet to have any egg eaters.
