I have 3 4 month old silkie roo's and they are ALWAYS pestering my flock. A few of the hens just finished molting and are having trouble growing them back because the roos just keep picking on them and asserting dominance. Its almost like a competition. Who can pull out the most feathers at the end of the day?!

HALP. :he:barnie:he:barnie:mad:

They're just teenagers with raging testosterone levels. Put them in a bachelor pad until they and the pullets mature. Hopefully you have enough pullets/hens that 3 cockerels will not be too many.
I have 26 and I am getting rid of 2 of the roos. So i will be left with 2 possibly 3... though the third would have to go.

Sounds like maybe just too many rambunctious cockerels for anyone, hens or pullets, to keep in line. It seems like you already have a plan in place. You could take out all 3 of the cockerels and bring in one at a time to see how they act individually. Maybe try giving each cockerel at least a day on his own with the girls. This way they're not competing with each other and acting even more crazy. You'll be able to see which one is the best one for your flock (or two). Whenever you have more than one, their going to compete and try to dominate as many as possible. The pullets are younger and likely lower on the pecking order, so they're the easiest targets for the cockerels.

Oh thank you! What an excellent idea!
