Are roosters good eatin'?

We have 4 roos to 22 hens and the time has come to dispatch them. 6 month old EE's -- before I put lots of time and <gulp> into this first harvest, am I harvesting stewing hens or are they young enough that I can choose how to prepare them? They've been free ranging for about 4 mos -- lots of exercise.

Stewers, but tasty! I crock pot until tender, and take the meat off of the bones for all kinds of dishes. Really nice for enchiladas, etc.

I freeze the broth for gravies, soups, dressing, etc.
