I need help. I am thinking strongly on getting me some sebright hens and I just wanted to know how they will get along with my flock. Are they feisty? Will they be mean when I get them? I'll be getting them June 3rd (first Monday?) Along with some dutch bantam hens. I need opinions on whether they're good companions or not. I've been wanting some for a long time now.

I have two golden sebrights that I bought from TSC last year. I have a rooster and a hen. I also have 6 other (standard size) hens of various breeds. I believe that each chicken has its own personality, and if they are raised to socialize with people daily, they will likely be a friendlier bird when compared to a bird not socializing with people daily.

My golden sebright hen is very shy. She loves cooked noodles, and the only way she comes over to me is if there is food involved. She is also very flighty. I'm not sure if this is a bantam thing, or not. She lays really well. A lot of times she lays more then my standard hens. She also has the best tasting egg, lots of flavor. She is really shy and cute.

My golden sebright rooster used to be incredibly friendly. He would perch on my shoulder and do chores with me when he was a young cockerel. As he has matured, he has become more aggressive towards me. Again, this doesn't necessarily mean it is a breed thing. To me, every chicken is different. There are some non aggressive sebright roosters out there too, I'm sure. As far as treating the hens, he is a very good boy. He calls them over if he finds a bug or treat. He even used to go into the nest box when my sebright hen was a pullet, as if to say "Here is a good spot to lay your eggs". He loves his hens, and takes good care of them.

My two golden sebrights are inseparable. They were raised together every since they were days old. They love sunbathing together, and perching in trees together.

This is just my experience with my two sebrights. Good luck with yours! Sebrights are very pretty birds.

thanks for the advice! I'm thinking about getting golden and silver sebright hens I feel In love with them every since I seen a picture of them In My chicken book. I've never seen a chicken that pretty and cute. I don't think I'll be leaning on any roosters. I have 6 already.. uh.. the reason I'm getting them and dutch bantam because my Dutch roo is top cock and his mate came up missing a while back and the other chickens are way bigger than he is I feel like he is lonely
