Are Silkie chickens rare?

At my Agway its chick season. I was looking at pamphlets of different chicken breeds including silkie. They say the silkies are "rare." Are they really that rare? I say them at Rick's Saddle Shop, Agway, and Mypetchciken.com so, are they popular and more common to find?

some areas they can be rare but they are very popular around me most hatcheries will stock them though but they tend to be more rare in cold areas or really hot areas or areas that get very wet or muddy.
