Giant ragweed is safe for chickens and is a big plants and they grow like wildfire around my yard but they have a large root system and I just wanted to know if the roots are safe for chickens? Just so its known, giant ragweed is a massive plant and is native to AZ despit it having weed in its name and it grows tall enough to stop a 200 horse power corn harvester in the field. The seeds are 47% crude protien too

Ragweed was brought here originally by settlers to feed cattle and horses. It's got a higher protein than alfalfa. It is completely safe for chickens. My yard was my chicken home fora bit and I don't have 1 plant of ragweed in it. But once it gets to big chickens don't care for it. When it dies they will eat the seed and branches. If the ragweed is small and just started chickens will pluck it out of the ground. They seem to like the shoots that come up. But over 2 ft no thank you they say but they will peck pieces off here and there. Horses love it and it's really good for them believe it or not.
