Our local GW is a serious jerk. He busts the super poor people for poaching, even if it's just one deer, but lets the rich people do whatever they want. Also, won't help when you've got an animal problem. There was a huge (HUGE) snapping turtle that some jerk had run over (on purpose) and it was still alive, but really crushed. We called, and he said if we touched it, we'd get a fine. It was in so much pain, and still in the road, but he also said that he didn't deal with turtles. So he wasn't going to help, and we couldn't touch it. anyway, we touched it. If you're going to be a GW, be a good GW.

My son looked at being a CO as a career and we have met several older CO's who state that there are not enough new people joining their ranks. Mainly due to salaries being low. We have 2 CO's for our county, both know every poacher by name yet it still continues. I heard more rifle shots the first week of Archery season then I did during our firearms season, very pityful.

Yes most of them are big "Richard's"

,but there are a few good one's.I am lucky though,the CO for my county also happens to be my best friend.​

The CO's i know around here make a very good living,like over 100 grand a year,plus an excellent benefits package.

Where are you? Every where it seems like the pay is low but the work is needed.
