I "ordered" 1 day old female silkies, but 2 of the 6 now have wattles at 8 weeks of age... is that indicative of a rooster? or could they be funny looking girls? Here are their photos:

thanks
for your help!! I live in a neighborhood that won't allow roosters, so its important that I identify any potential problem asap!
Sincerely, Karen

Well, they will all have wattles. So that really isn't an indicator to me. I have no idea if you have a roo or a hen. Silkies are VERY difficult to sex. I have been raising them for a little over a year and have never failed to be wrong.. LOL So maybe a real silkie guru will chime in soon. Oh, and you shouldn't have to worry about one crowing for another several months yet. Mine take between 6 to 8 months before they crow. But between now and then, there should be a few more signs of roo versus hen.

Here's your first picture. It isn't showing up in your post on my puter.

I'd guess that with that much comb and wattles showing up already, it's a male. But like the above response said, silkies are notoriously hard to judge. Can you get body shots, with them standing up? Cute babies!
