Hi my
Hubby went this evening and got a pair of barnvelders he said that when he picked them up there was a white / cream egg ( the light was fading so he isn’t sure if it was white or cream )in the hen house and the man he bought them of said it was the hens egg , I thought barnvelders eggs were a dark brown colour can anyone tell by looking at these pics ? As I’m new to chicken keeping and I’m not sure

They might be Barnevelders but not of the highest quality. The hen’s legs are the wrong color. More concerning is the fact that their faces and combs are extremely pale. Did you check them for mites?

When they came home I checked through there feathers and around there vent and the were all clean my hubby said the pens that they were in we’re all very clean as well .

Ive had barnevelders couple times from couple different sources, some laid kinda dark eggs and some laid kinda light eggs. if you want dark eggs tho welsummers and marans are alot better choice for dark eggs. i agree hens legs are wrong color barnies should have yellow legs, and does look like it has slight frostbite damage, is it cold where you live?. my guess probably mostly barnevelders but probably a little something else that got mixed in at some point in its line. heard of marans being mixed in to darken egg color and maybe thats why hens has white legs but that doesnt help if you keep breeding back to light egg roosters and that explains why still lays light colored eggs. idk just a guess.
