Hi! I need some insight into these three eggs. My spitzhab hen has been sitting on her own eggs since the 21st, after laying them on the 17th, 19th, and 20th. I candled them on day 7 and saw veins forming, which was promising. However, when I candled them again five days later, I noticed that all three eggs had veins only on one side, while the other side was completely clear. This is my second time hatching eggs. I don't own a incubator I prefer allowing the hens to handle this process rather than using an incubator, and as soon as the chicks hatch, I bring them indoors.

I’m going to check them again in two days for any changes, but I want to know if this is normal or if something is off. I also captured a video that shows the situation well, and I've put the eggs back under her. I’m eager to hear everyone’s thoughts!

Hi,

They may be okay as the veins come from the embryo, which should have looked like a dark blob to you on the 7th day, and now a larger mass on the 12th day. The opposite side that's clear is the air cell.

I would wait a couple more days to candle as then you should see them moving.

Here's one of many sites with pictures of eggs developing, and they show you what a blood ring looks like. If any of those died, you'd most likely see one of those. These photos are from Brinsea who makes incubators.
