We were away for 5 weeks and our house sitter didn't collect the chicken eggs. When we got back I found 100 eggs!!! I did the float test but I put the eggs in before filling the sink. Does this matter? None of them floated... I don't really want to do it all again.... Also it has been quite cold and we have had a lot of frosts. The eggs will have been frozen, defrosted and heated by a chicken over and over again. Is this bad? Will my eggs still be ok to eat? Thanks

Welcome to BYC!

Yeah, they aren't safe. Frozen eggs will sink and can crack. Some may have started to develop. It is safest to toss them, even if it will be a big mess. We have had to do clean-ups of old eggs in hidden nests as well.

Best of luck!
