Are these eggs still viable?

Hi folks, We free range our chickens and don't normally attempt to hatch any new additions. About a week or so ago we discovered a nest next to our house with about 24 eggs in it (apparently some of the girls preferred that location to the 80 nest boxes we have

). And, there are more in there every day! Anyway, since they were out there we thought it might be fun to see if any might hatch. Unfortunately it seems none of our broody girls are interested in sitting outside with the eggs.

Now those eggs have been out there for over a week and have been sitting in 90+ degree weather as well as rainstorms. Any thoughts as to if 1) any of the eggs that were fertile might still be viable and could hatch and 2) can we relocate them to one of the coops where our broody girls might decide to sit on them?

Thanks!

You can try, then candle in a week. The non viable eggs can be thrown. :)

I'd do it in a heartbeat. Eggs I guess can be stored at 50F for about 10 days and still be able to hatch.

Thanks, Nicole - it's certainly been at least 50 degrees every day recently

. It is was a try - it would be fun if any did hatch. The eggs won't go to waste either way - we'll either have new flock members or the dogs and the cat will have more to eat!

I agree with Nicole, put them in the most used nest box, an let the hens an mother nature take its course, hoping for the best for ya!! :))
