Hello all,

Are the 3 Plymouth Rocks in the photo purebred Plymouth rocks pullets?

I have heard they are supposed to have yellow legs if they are purebred.

Please give your opinion on whether they are purebred pullets.

Thank you in advance

Happy to be corrected but I believe both the legs and beak should be yellow.

Might just be the light but the colour on those looks patchy too.

Do you think are possibly not purebred? Thanks.

Short answer: no, they aren't.

The longer answer is that "purebred" isn't as neatly defined for chickens as it is for, say, dogs. They don't meet the breed standards, so at the very least I'd say they aren't well bred.

Other folk who exhibit or breed to SOP, and/or understand the genetics involved in leg colour, might have more to say.

They are barred pattern, but the last bird pictured is probably a mix (too many facial feathers)

NOT purebreds. The bottom one has the wrong comb none should have pink legs or beaks. They're lovely but surely not of good/purebred stock.

The leg and beak color looks more like cuckoo Marans to me but the feather pattern looks a bit to tidy for a cuckoo. I’m not really sure what I would call it. Are they laying? If so what is the egg color
