Are these good Marans?

Very odd, I've never really noticed my eggs changing colour at all, but then they are all the same colour so it not so noticeable.
Another question that I meant to put in the original post was this seller says this about them

English Cuckoo Marans ($130/doz) – available

Import line, dual-purpose, dark chocolate eggs, decent layer

Thats AUD.
Does this sound a reasonable price?
It seems a bit expensive but then they are quite rare here.
Oh, just noticed that you're in Australia to!
I will let @InterestingChickens answer that, but wow that seems pricey! Is that for hatching eggs? I would definitely want to visit them if possible or see more pictures of eggs and more of the birds up close for that price.

I have several Marans and their eggs definitely are much darker in the fall thru to spring and then they begin getting really light with dark speckles. I think they’re pretty both ways but these birds were a project batch so I got them cheap with no promises that eggs would be super dark. For $130/doz I would want those eggs to be at least a 7 or 8 on the Marans egg color chart. But if they are super rare in Australia, I’d say it depends most on what you really want! I’ve spent a lot on things I shouldn’t simply because I know I want it and I will be happy :)

It really comes down to what you are willing to pay. I agree, good quality Marans are reasonably rare here in Australia. As kurby22 stated, it would be best for your to visit them in person (if possible) and have a look at their birds and eggs produced first hand. If you are happy with their birds, you would then be able to purchase the eggs and take them without having to worry about the eggs being posted which reduces fertility rates. I am assuming $130 is how much it will cost without added postage.

I will say that a good hatch is anything over 75%. If this does turn out to be the case, you must be prepared that 3 or more eggs may not hatch. This leaves a 50/50 chance for them to be cockerels, or pullets. Another risk is that the birds that do hatch may not be true to type. Do take into account in your decision that Marans are not supposed to have floppy combs. Are you planning to sell Marans?

They are in Queensland, so it's not possible to visit, sadly.
Mostly I just want them for myself, possibly selling any excess pullets.
It's a ad on gumtree, here's the hole ad https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mou...itage-breed-fertile-eggs-for-sale-/1297726961 I'm thinking I might give it a miss, in that its just a bit to pricey.
