Are these mites, lice, or fleas?

I was cleaning out coop today and noticed these little bugs. Are they mites, lice, or fleas? I'm going to run to TSC and get permethrin to spray down my coop and chickens.

They don't look like a parasite of any sort to me. Are they on the birds or just in the bedding/coop?

I've only seen these bugs in the coop. I checked my chickens and there's bugs crawling on one of them. They looked different though. They were clear and a little pink so I'm going to spray the whole flock. Thanks!

Insects on the birds need treating, for sure. You can find pictures of the different mites, lice, and fleas that can plague your birds, depending on where you live. Those insects in your photo, don't know.

I agree, if there are something on the birds I would treat them.

If it is lice I would spray the coop thoroughly too.

You can also put cedar shavings in the coup which will kill most anything problematic to your chickens, or you can also use stove ash which will kill off bugs in the coup and give the birds a good place to bath and kill off any potential body mites that they might encounter.

Cedar shavings might deter some insects, but at that density, will also be bad for your chickens!
