I thought that is what these are but then I was reading another post about muffs and I am not seeing any muffs on these 2 compared to my MF d'uccles. These 2 are 6 weeks old and it looks like I have one of each for genders. Could they get muffs later? Are they just poor hatchery quality that lack muck muffs?

yup, those are porcelains. The cockerel looks like he has a shallow beard. Maybe it will fill out when he gets older.

The beard thing with duccles is a hatchery thing tho, I have seen totally clean faced bearded d'uccles from a hatchery....

Mine are rather clean faced too, and I was also told they were procelains - they look exactly like yours. Have you noticed that the little cockerals have more of a blueish tint in the feathering? My girls are nearly white while the two roos are nearly gray blue. Maybe it's just mine....

yeah the boy has a prettier coloring. He seems to have more caramel coloring in some spots but he is looking a little rough. He has some feathers picked off his back and upper wings. I have never seen anyone pick at him so not sure if he is doing it himself or if someone is just being naughty when "momma" isn't looking.

I wish I could keep him but like so many of us..... stupid city rules!!!

Did your Mille start out with a beard or did it develop? I have 4 mille and 4 porcelains that are about two weeks younger than yours and they don't have beards yet. But if I tickle them under their chins (they love it) I can feel the feather stubs starting. At least that is what I think I am feeling.

ETA: Out of the porcelains one is a girl and I noticed the same thing -- she is whiter than the boys who are grey-er. Is the girl also softer? Our girl is so soft and the boys who don't have all their feathers in are more prickly feeling.

I have a male and at 11 weeks he crowed which was yesterday! I was so excited. He also has the most beautiful red comb I have ever seen, but he has a clean face. He is also very friendly.
