The blue silkie rooster has too large of wattles. On bearded silkies the wattles should be barely noticable. The buffs look good, but it looks like they have fluff underneath that is too light.
I am not going to show them I was just wondering. I had to trim their eyes they were running into everything. Also we have had a darn hawk visting these last 2 days and I wanted them to be able to see.
I was really just wondering about the splash and the buff but, I was taking pictures and the blue rooster was right there so I picked him up and decided to take a pic of him too.
I am not going to be keeping the blue silkies I have but, I am keeping the white, buff, and splash colors.
Trimming so that the birds can see is just fine. Eric Kutch told me my birds needed to have the feathers around their eyes trimmed more than they were when he judged our State Fair.
The splash hen definitely has the best type. All need more foot feathering, but that could be condition as much as anything.
I don't see a blue rooster? The splash rooster is too tall and his tail too small, but he will breed better than one with more type.
All seem to have nice tight wings.
I don't like the buff rooster's comb--I don't like the spikey things on the comb's surface--it should be smoother. It is, however, nice and dark.
I wouldn't worry too much aout the colour of their fluff as long as it isn't smutty.
