We were given these chicks 3 weeks ago. They were supposed to have hatched on June 30th. We were told that they were both silver laced wyandottes but they don't look anything alike and the darker one is huge compared to the other and to the other chicks that we have who were hatched on June 30th.

So what do you think?
Is the smaller one at the bottom a wyandotte?

What about the larger darker one? Two pixs of it.
Do you think it is older than the others by maybe a week or two? I measured it standing and it is 6" tall from desktop to top of head.

Thanks

I don't know about breed, I'm horrible in fact, but the top one doesn't look very Sl at all. The second one has a bit of what I would expect from first feathers. I have SL polish and cochins and they started out like the second chick.

but even so, your chick doesn't have as much lacing as I have seen on my guys.

front chick is SL cochin at aprox 10 days

Yes, the second chick, pic at bottom, has a beautiful light gray coloring on head and neck. She is much smaller than the other one.

She does sort of look more like yours than the large dark one.

I have four SLW that are now 9-10 weeks old. I think both your chicks are SLW's. I had one that was big, two average and one very small chick. But I am a newbie to chickens as these are our first go round so may not be right here ???!!

I can't really see the color in the second pict- but if it's not a silver laced- it might be something barred like a barred rock, cuckoo maran or dominique- but they are usually darker in the head. Is there a glare? What color are the legs?

The first could possibly be SLW although it should have more light feathering in the wings, but the second has the wrong color legs to be a wyandotte. What do their combs look like?

These 2 chicks were sent from a hatchery to our seller, so I know that they are not a mixed breed.

The chick in the first two photos has pinkish yellow legs. Her beak is gray toned but the tip is pinkish yellow. Her comb looks like it might develop into a rose comb.

The chick in the last photo has pink legs that seem to be mottled with gray. Her beak is pinish yellow with gray tones on the upper half. Her comb is still so small but it looks like it might develop into a rose comb.

All my baby SLW's that I hatched looked different when born, some were black with yellow spots by their eyes, some were gray, some were somewhere in between, now at 4 weeks, they all look generally the same.
