For some reason, a lot of people think that. Chicken is the species. ;-) When I first started on the forum, I knew pullet was a young female, but just thought rooster was any age. Learned eventually cockerel was the correct term for young male. But half the time I still just call them roos.

Also, is the black and white one a silver laced waynodotte? (or however the heck you spell it) I did have one of those, a pullet, and she got a light pink comb early. So if that's it's breed, I would wait a few more weeks and see.
