I'm gonna expand my brooding area and I was thinking of adding a little "swimming" or I guess splash pool in with them. They are about 5 days old, I was thinking of just a normal size glass pie dish. Would that be ok at this age or should I wait? They seem to wanna splash in they're water feeder, but it's too small for them to fully fit. What do you guys think?

Don't! They are to young! They will play in the water all day long, get water logged, and get chilled. Even with heat lamp they will get chilled. Make it a routine to take them daily to the bathtub and have them splash in warm water for a couple of minutes while you watch them. Ducks don't need swimming water at all. All they need is a vessel deep enough to submerge their bill into it to clear their nostrils.

Thanks, just wanted to check before doing it!

when are they old enough to have they're own little splash park?

I would give them 1 bath a day then once they are old enough to go outside give them a pool to swim in. You dont want to give them swimming water in their brooder, you wll end up with waterlogged ducklings who never dry out and they will get sick from the wet and cold

I agree with everyone else. I let young ducks swim under supervision, but never in their brooder--WAY too messy and wet. They get swimming water when they are fully feathered, which, in summer, happens after they move outdoors. They really won't miss it, and will be happier and healthier if they stay dry.

Mine got to have their own kiddy pool once they were 6 weeks, and had most of their adult feathers. Now they're 8 weeks, and still loving it!

Like gofasterstripe said, I gave them 1 bath a day for about 15 minutes, and that kept them clean (enough).
