just wondering, bought these little gals from Orchelens, they get their chicks from Estes Hatchery. They were listed as Ameraucana, just wondered if they are or are they EE's?

Most hatchery's have EE's, even if they advertise them as Ameraucana's. To get purebred Ameraucana's, you would do well to buy from a breeder.

Edited to fix my grammar!

which they wouldn't advertise them as ameraucana though...

No hatchery sells Ameraucanas. But, atleast you'll have some green eggs. . . I think. Mine ended up light brown.

Estes sells EEs . Tip : The only recognised Ameraucana variety with chipmonk colored chicks is the Silver .

Edt: I should have been more clear . The stripes over the back and face on Ameraucana chicks occur only on the Silver variety . Though they may occassionaly grow up to resemble a recognised color [ phenotype ] , the chicks being hatched with stripes is a dead give-a-way that they're of mixed parentage or an unaccepted genotype for any varity other than the Silver .
