One of my best friends and co-worker is taking a nutrition class for school. I was telling me how the yolk is the junk part of the egg and not very healthy to eat. His teacher is a 70 year old health freak.

Of course this ruffles my feathers. So I argue with him “that is a busted myth. Dietary Cholesterol from eggs does not add to cholesterol in the human body.” Medical research from the past year debunked all that. Cholesterol is from excessive bad fats and too much sugar intake.”

He continues to argue with me.

Now he is 6 foot and 370 lbs and at one point he was 560lbs before stomach surgery. I am 6 foot 158lbs and have study nutrition for the last 2 years to improve my health issues. I have been preaching to him for the last two years to improve his diet so he can live a good life and enjoy it with his twin boys. Now he taking to class and telling me all the same information I have told him for the last 2 years. HELLO! This is what I have been telling you!!!

So after listening to enough of his nonsense I found all the research on eggs yokes and sent it to him to shut him up. This is what I sent him

I’m still cranky about the whole thing.

I heard Dr Oz say the same thing as you regarding cholesterol. He said only 2% of the population is affected. He thinks eggs are a "perfect" food.
Maybe your co-worker would believe Dr Oz?

Some people have a pre-recorded tape running in their head and thats all they hear.

Some people tend to listen to what they already are inclined to believe. You might have to give up trying to educate them, it might be hopeless.

Anything I say to my DH goes in one ear and out the other. Now if he hears it a work, I hear it endlessly, even if it the exact same thing I'd been saying for years. Or if he pays someone for information I went to college six years for and over ten years experience for, that I already explained....

I feel your frustration.

Some people fixate on "gurus" and can't be convinced. It's like when I tell people about some of the health benefits of vegetarianism and they shut down and won't hear it.

Don't worry about what other people believe. It's his choice to believe as he wishes, just like it is yours. Being right all the time is not what it's cracked up to be.
