Hi! My Name is Ashley, and I am VERY new to chickens. I may have a ton of questions, so don't hate me for my mama chicken freak out questions. haha!

1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, I just got my first batch of 12 Black australorps and 2 guineas for egg laying on May 22nd, and my meat chickens (24, one died after we got home) on June 25th.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 36

(3) What breeds do you have? Black Australorp & Jumbo Cornish Cross & 2 Guineas

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? It pops up on google every time I google a question!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening, permaculture landscaping, homesteading, self sustainability.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a husband who works in the steel installation industry, a 5 year old daughter who never puts the chicks down, and my son just turned 1. We also have a 185 lb full blooded rottweiler who we thought would kill the chickens, but protects and follows them around when we let them out of the tractors. He just really hates the guineas... but I don't blame them their noises get annoying lol!

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :DI have read things on and off for 2 years on here and decided that I should become part of it to learn and to share my do's and don'ts with others once I become knowledgeable in things and learn.

Hi Ashley and welcome to BYC :frow We're so happy you've decided to join us :ya

I've already posted in your other thread. Best of luck on your new adventure. In about a month you'll have the best tasting chicken ever and the benefit of knowing exactly what went into them.

Hello Ashley and welcome to BYC! I love your intro!

I'm so jealous of your dog! I wish my Doberman would be a flock protector too. Just the other day on leash, he charged one of my Easter eggers! Clearly more prey drive than protective instinct going on there.
