Tried to scan it on my printer but it was fuzzy. So, here's the details:
Red Star Sex Link, my smallest chicken is the first to lay at 22 weeks old.

Started the light 2 weeks ago and just like someone mentioned in another thread the laying has begun exactly 2 weeks later. It comes on at 3:30am and off at 7:30am. No evening light.
They have 3 good sized windows that face south and 1 that faces west so they have loads of natural light even if they decide they don't want to go outside.

It has been very cold weather and there is no supplemental heat. It was 19 degrees this morning.

Layena since approximately 20 weeks. Corn 4:30pm to keep them warm at night.

Combs, face and wattles very red. Squatting for several days.

Here's how it went down;
Unbelievable noise in the coop this morning about 9:30.
I have a baby monitor so I heard a racket that I never heard before. Firefly, the new layer, was doing a frantic and incessant bak bak bak bawawk and others were joining in with their version. I ran out to the coop and all but Firefly were hanging out in the shavings. She jumped out of a nest box, no egg but a hollowed out area. I went back in the house and heard the racket again for 45 minutes. I just knew it was today.
Went back out to the coop when it was quiet and Voila! A little light brown egg in the nesting box.

1 off the freeloader list and 15 to go.

Sorry if the info is unorganized~I'm pretty giddy, lol!

Rita, our Red X Link, is the smallest, lays the biggest and most cGIGANTIC eggs, and laid first! She's so hard and compact-feeling, not fluffy like fatso Phoebe. CONGRATS!
