Does anyone have any idea of a rough guesstimate as to how much 1 plant will produce in a season??

I have purchased 16 2-3 yr. root balls, and they are coming up great. But I was just wondering if anyone had any idea as to production, because if it's very few, I want to go get more. My husband says, "isn't that enough?" My response was " I don't know"

Does anyone know? We are a family of 5 and I would like to grow enough to have fresh and to can or freeze. Thanks.

I used to work for a old fellow that had a acre of asparagus.
The older the plant the more spears you can harvest.
They are heavy feeders.
Do not harvest all the edible spears you have to leave some for the plant, so they can flower. The root will get bigger and produce more spears each year.
We used to harvest 3/4's of what the plant produced. In my area a three year old plant would produce approx. 8 spears, so we would harvest 6 of them.
The plants seem to increase its production by a third every year until it reaches a certain point.
His plants produced between 25 and 35 spears each but they were about 10 years old.

my mom and dad planted 12 plants about 5 yrs ago they didnt harvest any the first year but now they cant keep up. The wild stuff that me and my kids pic we just keep picn until we r sick of eatn it and thats just roughly 6 to 10 plants.
